Non-Producing Appalachian Mineral Rights
A non-producing interest generates no production income today. That covers a wide range of situations, from acreage that has never been leased to interests whose wells were plugged decades ago.
Common non-producing situations
Non-producing is a status, not a verdict.
- Never leased and never drilled
- Leased but not included in any drilling unit
- Previously produced from shallow wells that are now plugged
- Held in an area where development has occurred nearby but not on the tract
- Payments stopped and the reason is unknown to the owner
Why records matter more here
With no royalty statement to work from, the recorded chain of title, any lease of record, and the tract description carry most of the weight. Unreleased expired leases are a frequent complication and may need to be addressed.
We do not promise future drilling, production, royalties or value for any non-producing interest, and no one honestly can.
